When a fatal accident takes place, it may not be immediately clear to authorities who may be at fault for the incident. For this reason, evidence is collected, and investigations are carried out in order to obtain as much information as possible about the event. The information pertaining to who is considered responsible for a fatal accident can play a substantial role in any resulting wrongful death claims.

It was recently reported that a deadly crash took place in Colorado. The incident occurred at an intersection and involved a semitrailer and a passenger vehicle. Report stated that the driver of the truck was attempting to make a left turn when it collided with the sedan, which was presumably traveling straight at the intersection as it appears in photos that the truck hit the driver's side of the car.

The incident resulted in the driver of the sedan suffering fatal injuries, and he was declared dead at the accident site. A 9-year-old passenger in the car and the truck driver both suffered minor injuries. At the time of the report, authorities were still investigating to determine which driver may have had the right of way at the time of the collision.

If it is determined that the truck driver is considered responsible for the fatal incident, the family of the deceased car driver may have reason to file a legal claim against the driver and the trucker's employer. A wrongful death claim could allow the surviving loved ones to seek compensation for funeral expenses, pain and suffering, and other damages permitted under Colorado state law. Information on this option may allow them to better understand how it could help.
